I believe that merging the US History class with the American Lit class greatly helps with understanding the content, especially in AP. American Literature allows us, as students, to read excerpts of writing from the time periods we are learning about in history. This helps us because we aren't just learning facts about people of the the Puritan Era, for example, but we are analyzing their writing styles and emotions to get a sense of how the people lived at the time and what they believed. I feel that it gives me more insight on America's history, which allows me to better understand the content.
